The newly designed course of "Human Rights and the Jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights" at our Law Faculty

The course "Human Rights and the Jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)", which has been redesigned within the framework of the JUALGO Project, co-financed by the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module program, is designed to promote excellence in teaching and research in the field of European Union studies.

This project aims to foster dialogue between the academic world and policymakers, improve the governance of EU policies, and enhance the quality of professional training in Albania. The goal is to equip the Law Faculty students at Luarasi University with a deeper understanding of the functioning of the European Union and its policies, especially in the context of legal studies and human rights.

The course "Human Rights and the Jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR)" under this project has been redesigned to align with these objectives. The revised syllabus includes comprehensive content covering essential aspects of human rights within the EU framework; learning objectives are tailored to provide a deep understanding of the subject matter; and assessment methods are designed to effectively evaluate the knowledge and skills acquired by students.

The syllabus, which is implemented for the first time in the academic year 2023-2024, reflects a more comprehensive approach to covering various aspects of human rights and the European Court of Human Rights. This includes a deeper exploration of topics such as gender equality, environmental rights, and children's rights.

The new syllabus shows a clear emphasis on broader educational objectives, aiming to provide students with a more detailed understanding of the EU's legal framework for human rights and the role of key institutions such as the ECHR and the EU Human Rights Agency. The revised syllabus places greater emphasis on the practical application of knowledge, particularly in the context of Albania, allowing students to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world scenarios.

The new syllabus for "Human Rights and the Jurisprudence of ECHR" demonstrates a commitment to enhancing the quality and depth of education in this critical area of EU studies, in line with the objectives of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Modules program.

Calendar of Activities

Luarasi University will organize three activities in the form of open lectures during the next 3 years.

At the centre of these organizations will be the students themselves, who will moderate, present, and elaborate on issues that they have acquired during the development of the module, according to the course syllabus. These activities will focus on issues that have been addressed in lectures and seminars and that are closely related to the students' acquisition of essential knowledge in terms of the legal education of the public as a function of the process of full integration in the EU, as well as good governance, especially good governance in the judiciary.
